DESCRIPTION

Smooth Finish is a suspended installation art piece made from cast resin. Measuring 40′ x 30′, this large artwork fills a section of the new Tempo Hotel downtown Nulu in Louisville, KY. Walking from the lobby to the elevators, the ceiling is filled with the amber tones and splashing forms that dance around the ceiling.

bEHIND THE SCENES

This artwork was inspired by Kentucky Bourbon and the movement of liquid as it’s being poured. The design was created by studying still photography of liquid as it’s splashing and swirling. Those shapes were turned into sculpture and cast into resin shapes that make up the various layers of this installation art piece.
