Ventifacts

is a suspended, site-specific installation art piece created for the reception area at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells, California. Inspired by these wind-shaped desert rocks, this piece translates the quiet force of the surrounding landscape into a floating field of faceted boulders. Each shape draws from the desert geology of the Coachella Valley, while the palette reflects colors that stretch across the sky above the mountain range at sunrise and sunset.

LOCATION:
Renaissance Esmeralda Resort
Indian Wells, CA

MATERIALS: Aluminum, wire mesh, acrylic

Constructed from hand-shaped aluminum bar and wrapped in wire mesh, each shape appears airy and distinct, remaining decipherable even where forms overlap.

From below, the installation shifts from different perspectives around the room. The mesh moves between near transparent to near opaque depending on where you stand. Colors blend and the composition changes as guests walk through the space.

Ventifacts is a site-specific sculptural installation built in 2025 and measures 24’ x 14’ x 4’. It was created for the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells, California, serving as the visual centerpiece at reception.
